Bottoms Up: The 6th Annual Barcelona Beer Festival

Barcelona starts to heat up in March, with an average high of 17 degrees Celsius. In a climate like this, you’re bound to get thirsty. Might we suggest one of the more than 300 craft beers being served at the 6th annual Barcelona Beer Festival?

Taking place 16-18 March in La Farga D’Hospitalet, the Barcelona Beer Festival is one of the largest festivals celebrating craft beer in Spain, attracting more than 32,000 beer-drinking enthusiasts. The festival’s 50 taps will offer a rotating selection of foreign, Catalan, and Spanish brews. Whether you like a hoppy beer or a malty one, a light IPA or a deep, dark brew, you’ll have plenty to choose from. Beers will be served at three different temperatures, based on the brewer’s recommendation for best taste.

New to 2018 is the « Meet the Brewer » program, where you can meet dozens of brewers as they serve up their own beers. You’ll be able to ask them for recommendations or a brewing question or two.

Don’t drink on an empty stomach! Find the perfect dish to complement your favorite brew from a variety of food vendors offering everything from tapas, crepes, pastries, cheeses, and more.

The festival will feature a wonderful selection of activities to keep you entertained between sips. There will be a live cooking area where you can watch chefs masterfully prepare dishes in which beer plays the leading role. If you’re interested in learning more about the brewing process, you will enjoy hearing special presentations from craft brewers, panel debates, and Q&A sessions designed to spread the love of brewing culture.

The price of admission includes a festival glass, which is required in order to be served. The festival operates on its own currency system using tokens and not all beers are sold at the same price. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the festivals website or onsite.
